Expertax is a brand-new accountancy firm based in Watford with a combined 40 years of experience. They are a small team with big ambitions, looking for a Junior/Trainee Accountant to join them on this exciting journey. This role offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact.

Job Description

The Junior/Trainee Accountant will be responsible for:

External Duties

  • Preparing payrolls for small businesses using BrightPay.
  • Handling Confirmation Statements (CS01s) using Inform Direct.
  • Bookkeeping and preparing VAT returns using QuickBooks & Xero.
  • Preparing accounts for small businesses using TaxCalc.
  • Preparing personal tax returns for individuals and partnerships using TaxCalc.

Internal Duties

  • Keeping the practice management database and systems up to date.
  • Assisting with client onboarding and offboarding.
  • Managing various administrative tasks as needed.
  • Supporting the director and associate director.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Detail-Oriented: Must have an eye for detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with cloud IT systems and solid IT skills, especially in MS Excel.
  • Quick Learner: Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to new situations.
  • Ambitious: Eagerness to contribute to the firm’s growth and personal development.
  • Interest in Tax and Accountancy: Genuine interest in the field.
  • Qualifications: Minimum GCSE English & Maths Grade C or equivalent.
