Requirements

  • UK student midwife due to register by January 2026 or already qualified within the last 12 months
  • Positive understanding of Oxfordshire maternity services and patient-centred care

Salary Details

This is a Band 5 NHS role under Agenda for Change pay scheme. Final salary will be based on experience and offered on a pro-rata basis for part-time contracts.

As a newly qualified midwife, you’ll be welcomed into a service that blends community-centred care with cutting-edge hospital facilities. At the John Radcliffe, you’ll have access to delivery suites, theatres, and recovery wards, while also working in settings where home births and midwifery-led care thrive. You’ll assess, plan, and deliver care, support colleagues, and grow your clinical expertise through real-world practice and structured training. Each day you’ll make decisions that directly impact families, ensuring their journey is both safe and personal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic midwifery care that respects individual needs and choices
  • Accurately document and evaluate care to maintain safe standards
  • Support less experienced colleagues and maternity assistants in their practice
  • Develop advanced skills such as cannulation and suturing to expand clinical confidence
  • Engage with research, study days, and professional discussions to strengthen expertise
  • Take part in the on-call rota when required, contributing to round-the-clock service
  • Act as an advocate for families to ensure every voice is heard and respected

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
