Job Description
Larson Texts is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as Online Math Tutors. Tutors will provide mathematical help to students via web-based text chats, covering middle school math through Algebra II and Geometry. Responsibilities include assisting other tutors, monitoring chats, implementing appropriate redirection, and reporting incidents. Tutors will use student-driven, differentiated approaches and grade-appropriate, mathematically correct language. Effective communication with co-workers, management, and students is essential. Tutors must conform to all regulations, policies, and complete mandatory quarterly trainings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or mathematics education, or comparable degree
- Experience teaching math at middle or high school level, with high school preferred
- Proficiency in math up to and including Algebra II and Geometry
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background screening
- Access to a computer and high-speed internet
- Exceptional listening, writing, and presentation skills
- Resourceful and motivated to ask questions and solve problems
- Effective time management
- Commitment to product success with integrity, professionalism, and a team-oriented attitude
Duration and Location
- Remote position
- Part-time hours, available shifts from 4:00 pm EST to 12:00 midnight EST, Sunday through Thursday
- Ideal candidates work between 10 and 20 hours per week
