Apple Orchard operates five homes in Surrey and West Sussex, each set in a rural location providing a comfortable homely environment for young males aged 13-18 years. Job Description

Apple Orchard is seeking experienced Residential Childcare Support Workers passionate about creating a nurturing and motivating environment for young people. The role involves planning and preparing activities, observing and assessing progress, maintaining records, and working with local authorities to ensure outstanding care. Responsibilities also include building supportive relationships, undertaking domestic tasks, and supporting young people toward independence and adulthood.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior.
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle due to rural locations.
  • Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People’s Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
  • Flexibility in working hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior and provide firm boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow delegated tasks.
  • Commitment to maintaining policies and procedures.

Compensation

  • Base salary of £13,163.88 pro rata (£26,327.76 FTE) per annum with potential earnings up to £14,843.88 with sleep-in shifts.
  • Salary after probation: £13,743.60 pro rata (£27,487.20 FTE) per annum with potential earnings up to £15,423.60 with sleep-in shifts.
  • Company pension.
  • £35 per sleep-in (one per week x 48 weeks).
