Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration
  • Post-registration experience in sexual health or HIV at Band 5/6 level
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of STI management and HIV care
  • Ability to administer medication under PGDs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable:

  • Specialist training in sexual health, HIV, or family planning
  • Experience in health promotion, outreach, and working with young people

Salary Details

£35,392 – £42,618 annually, depending on experience

About the Role

As a Senior Staff Nurse in Sexual Health & HIV, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical care across John Hunter and Kobler outpatient clinics. You will manage a caseload of patients autonomously, deliver nurse-led clinics, and oversee the implementation of PGD protocols. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to nurse-led Klick services, enhancing your HIV expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Coordinating and managing clinic operations
  • Ensuring adherence to clinical governance and infection control protocols
  • Supervising and supporting junior staff and learners
  • Leading health promotion initiatives and outreach programs
  • Participating in research and implementing evidence-based practices

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Oversee patient care and manage complex clinical cases
  • Team Management: Coordinate staffing, rotas, and ensure safe practice
  • Education & Development: Mentor students and staff, delivering training as needed
  • Governance & Safety: Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and adhere to CQC standards
  • Patient Care: Lead clinics, including STI and HIV management, and health promotion
