Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification (DipSW, BA/BSc/MSc Social Work)
  • Current registration with Social Work England
  • Completed Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
  • Experience in mental health or children’s and families settings
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Children Act, Mental Capacity Act, etc.)
  • Experience in child protection proceedings and relevant legal frameworks

Salary Details:

The trust offers a competitive NHS salary with additional pay for unsocial hours. Evening shifts (from 8pm) and Saturdays are compensated with a 30% premium, while Sundays and Bank holidays receive a 60% premium.

About the Role

GMMH is seeking an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join their Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) at Laureate House, Wythenshawe Hospital. This 10-bedded inpatient unit specializes in acute perinatal mental health care, providing a crucial service for mothers and their babies during a sensitive time.

As the MBU Social Worker, you’ll play a vital role in the multidisciplinary team, offering expert social work practice and support across the unit. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring the individual needs of mothers and their babies are met, providing social care advice to staff, and taking a lead role in safeguarding.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the specialized field of perinatal mental health, combining your social work expertise with a focus on maternal and infant wellbeing. You’ll collaborate closely with various agencies and professionals, always maintaining a clear emphasis on recovery, social inclusion, and social justice.
