JOB OVERVIEW
A role is available in the innovative Ambulatory Care chemotherapy setting for a motivated and forward-thinking individual passionate about healthcare. This opportunity allows for professional, clinical, and personal development in an autonomous and supportive environment.

The position includes a two-week supernumerary period and comprehensive training supported by Educational Facilitators. A friendly and well-established team provides expert cancer treatment and continuity of care to patients.

Ambulatory Care supports patients with haematological disorders at all stages of their cancer journey, including those undergoing bone marrow transplantation and CAR-T Cell Therapy. This fast-paced and innovative service allows patients to receive life-saving treatment in a relaxed setting, promoting independence by enabling them to return home to their families after treatment.

This role also offers opportunities to work in alternative areas within the directorate, maintaining a primary focus on the Ambulatory Care unit.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

Clinical duties

  • Venepuncture and cannulation
  • Dressing changes
  • Basic patient monitoring
  • Supportive patient care
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Urinalysis and pregnancy testing

Administrative duties

  • Stock management
  • Patient accommodation and transport bookings
  • Patient notes management
  • Conducting audits

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential criteria

  • Good standard of education, including GCSE English and Maths Grades A-C or equivalent Level II qualification
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent knowledge
  • Band 2 HCSW experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and public engagement
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Ability to travel within the geographical area

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in haematology
  • Experience with vulnerable groups
  • Welsh language proficiency
  • Organisational skills, such as group coordination
  • Teamworking within multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings
