Role: Healthcare Assistant – Trauma & Orthopaedics

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Day and Night shifts)
Location: Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Aintree Site)

An opportunity is available within the Orthopaedic Division at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This position involves working as part of the Orthopaedic Trauma Team at Aintree.
The unit is a 27-bedded acute trauma and orthopaedic ward, serving the orthopaedic needs of Liverpool. The role supports qualified practitioners in delivering high-quality care to patients in an acute setting. A supportive and enthusiastic team committed to excellent patient care awaits the successful candidate.
A comprehensive Trust induction and two-week ward preceptorship will be provided. Ongoing support for professional development will also be available.
Flexibility to work day and night shifts as per service requirements is essential.

Main Duties of the Job
- Assist registered nurses in delivering basic care to patients and supporting families/carers.
- Ensure hygiene, toileting, grooming, and other personal care needs are met while maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Measure fluid intake/output, support dietary needs, and assist patients with meals.
- Facilitate mobility exercises, manage incontinence, and assist in pressure sore prevention.
- Obtain patient specimens, escort patients to departments, and provide general observations.
- Support last offices in collaboration with registered nurses.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Demonstrated willingness and capability to undertake NVQ Level 2.
Experience
- Suitable work/life experience (essential).
- Previous experience in a caring role (desirable).
Knowledge
- Basic computer skills (desirable).
Skills
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in a healthcare setting.
Other Requirements
- Clear communication in written and spoken English.
