Job overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen with our new learning disability nurse jobs, for qualified individuals to join the team covering the North Northamptonshire area. This is a part-time substantive post (30 hours a week). The role involves working as part of the Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD), with bases in Northampton and Kettering. The post will be attached to the Kettering team, though travel across Northamptonshire will be required from time to time. The role seeks a dedicated workforce to meet the diverse needs of service users. Candidates must have a genuine interest in working within a multi-disciplinary team and a passion for improving the lives and health outcomes of people with learning disabilities.
Main duties of the job
As part of the CTPLD specialist multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will assess and provide support and intervention to people with learning disabilities who have identified nursing needs. Collaboration with the person, their circle of support, and other relevant professionals and services will be essential to enhance, optimise, and maintain the person’s quality of life and health.
A passion for working with people with learning disabilities is required, along with experience of working as an effective and responsible member of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities would be preferred.
The Northamptonshire Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities delivers specialist multi-disciplinary healthcare to adults with learning disabilities presenting with physical health needs, mental illness, and/or challenging behaviour. The service provided is person-centred and tailored to individual needs, taking into account their ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This is achieved through direct support, joint working with other services, and offering consultancy to other professionals involved.
Due to the community nature of the role, a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours are required.
