Senior Mental Health Practitioner jobs are open for qualified individuals to join the Knowsley CYPMHS team. This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract for 0.8 WTE (4 days per week). The role involves providing high standards of care, including the assessment, treatment, and care coordination of children and young people referred to the service. The role requires working as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and independently to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care.
Main Duties of the Job
- Accept referrals for children and families, ensuring thorough assessment and care planning.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate interventions in collaboration with the child and caregiver, adhering to best practice standards.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ensure appropriate risk management plans are documented.
- Regularly review care plans and discuss any concerns in clinical supervision.
- Liaise with other agencies to gather and share relevant information.
- Notify local child protection coordinators and senior clinicians of any safeguarding concerns.
- Use outcome measures to track changes in care quality in line with CYPMHS procedures.
- Organise and manage caseload and work schedule in agreement with the Senior Nurse/Clinician.
- Provide care in settings that best support the needs of the child and family.
- Undertake clinical procedures, including monitoring physical health parameters relevant to the treatment plan.
- Record and report effects and side effects of prescribed psychotropic medication.
- Engage with service users and carers, delivering evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate individual care programs.
- Act as Named Nurse where required.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures in clinical practice.
- Contribute to setting service user care standards based on sound research.
- Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing practices in the clinical area.
- Provide care based on individual care plans and integrated Care Pathways.
- Support the development and implementation of care pathways, including appropriate assessments and models of care.
- Promote effective team working.
- Participate in assessing potential new admissions and completing quality reports.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with service users and carers.
- Participate in case supervision to ensure the highest standards of care and documentation.
- Engage in regular clinical supervision as per Trust policy.
- Participate in managerial supervision.
