Position: Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse (Ophthalmology – PCEU Windsor)
Location: Prince Charles Eye Unit, King Edward VII Hospital, St Leonards Road, Windsor, SL4 3DP
Additional Benefits: Fringe payment of 5% of gross basic salary.
An opportunity exists at the Prince Charles Eye Unit (Windsor) for an ophthalmic nurse to develop skills such as intravitreal injections (AMD & DMO), pre-operative assessments, and emergency eye care to meet service demands.
The role involves working as part of a large, supportive team across various ophthalmology sub-specialties. Applicants must exhibit professionalism, enthusiasm, and dedication to providing high-quality ophthalmic care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Main Duties of the Job
- Supervising junior staff and assisting the department manager in day-to-day clinical activities.
- Facilitating excellent nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Acting as a role model, demonstrating leadership competencies, and integrating evidence-based practice.
- Supporting pre-operative assessments by undertaking biometry measurements and acquiring relevant ophthalmic procedural knowledge.
- Developing competencies for emergency eye care, including patient triage and nursing assessments.
- Training and independently performing intravitreal injections (AMD & DMO) per local guidelines.

- Registered Nurse – Adult Nurse Sub Part 1.
- Experience in a clinical NHS setting.

- SSSA Supervisor and Assessor Training (or equivalent).
Essential Experience
- Significant post-qualification experience, including ophthalmology.
