Requirements
- Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (Assistant Practitioner route) or equivalent qualification
- Experience working in healthcare, directly supporting patients, relatives, and carers
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills across clinical settings
- Commitment to lifelong learning and self-directed study
- Ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure, especially in fast-paced environments
- Flexibility and resilience to adapt to changing needs and schedules

Salary Details
This role offers a salary between £24,937 and £30,162 per annum pro rata, aligned with Agenda for Change Band 3, plus access to NHS benefits and pension.
About the Role
As an Assistant Practitioner in the Hospital at Night team, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining safe, high-quality care for patients during the evening and overnight hours. Working alongside advanced nurse practitioners and medical teams, you’ll deliver hands-on support across a variety of wards, ensuring each patient receives the right care at the right time.
Your work will involve everything from clinical observations to supporting urgent care interventions. You’ll also help manage workloads, ensure accurate record-keeping, and contribute to the ongoing development of nursing practice. Each shift brings variety, teamwork, and the satisfaction of knowing you made a real difference.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centred care during evening and night shifts to maintain safety and comfort
- Support multidisciplinary teams with clinical tasks and decision-making
- Assist with patient assessments and escalate changes using recognised tools
- Comply with infection prevention procedures and safeguarding responsibilities
- Maintain accurate electronic and written records for continuity and safety
- Contribute to quality improvement through audits and clinical governance
- Support the Hospital at Night service by managing urgent requests and coordinating care efficiently
