Requirements

  • Degree in Psychology (BA or BSc) or Master’s in Psychology (with a non-psych background)
  • Eligible for BPS graduate membership
  • Some experience working or volunteering in mental health or psychology-related settings
  • Empathy, emotional resilience, and adaptability in challenging scenarios
  • Confidence in working with groups and assisting with assessments
  • Experience with psychometrics, research, or co-facilitation would be a plus
  • Must hold a full driving license and be able to travel across Northumbria

Starting from £29,970, scaling up to £36,483 based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

This is more than a stepping stone – it’s a chance to make a real difference. The Assistant Psychologist will work within the North Tyneside Specialist Community Psychology Service, where support goes beyond the surface. Patients here often carry the weight of early trauma and complex emotional struggles. Your role? To walk alongside them and help lighten the load.

You’ll assist with triage, screening, co-facilitating group interventions, and contributing to service audits. There’s room to explore your strengths in both clinical and research settings – all under the guidance of senior psychologists. Whether it’s gathering stats, supporting group sessions, or diving into a meaningful project, every task counts.
