About the Role
As an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll work closely with registered psychologists within the Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT) and the Adult Clinical Psychology Service. Your work will focus on understanding and addressing the psychological needs of adults at risk of harm to themselves or others, where mental health is a key factor.
You’ll help carry out psychological and risk assessments, contribute to care plans, and co-develop formulations that guide therapeutic interventions. Your input will support the team’s goal of repatriating individuals from secure placements back into the community safely and sustainably.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, values evidence-based care, and wants to make measurable improvements in people’s lives. Every insight you offer contributes directly to safer, more person-centred mental health services across Wales.
Key Responsibilities
- Support psychological and risk assessments to inform safe, effective interventions.
- Develop psychological formulations that clarify service user needs and guide care.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to shape rehabilitation and recovery pathways.
- Contribute to reflective practice groups that strengthen workforce understanding.
- Assist in staff training on psychological models and risk management approaches.
- Ensure high-quality data and documentation that supports continuity of care.
Each task you take on helps ensure individuals receive consistent, compassionate, and effective psychological support.
