Job Summary

Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust is seeking an Assistant Research Psychologist to support a clinical evaluation project focusing on the Long Term Conditions Pathway within Norfolk & Waveney Talking Therapies. The primary area of focus will be stroke rehabilitation, with potential expansion into related healthcare domains.

This project involves collaboration between physical and mental healthcare providers and the University of East Anglia (UEA). The role requires data collection, management, analysis, and reporting to support clinical service evaluation.

As this is a newly created position, the successful candidate will work closely with project leads and clinical practitioners to design and implement a robust data collection framework that integrates seamlessly with clinical service delivery. Proficiency in data management and analysis systems is essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Data Analysis

  • Support the Talking Therapies Director of Psychology and the clinical psychology research lead at UEA in research and evaluation projects.
  • Work within NSFT’s NHS Talking Therapies Data & Performance Team to ensure accurate data collection, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Ensure all research procedures comply with study protocols and clinical service requirements.
  • Develop and manage data collection methodologies that align with clinical delivery practices.
  • Conduct quantitative data analysis and contribute to study reports.

Collaboration and Project Support

  • Assist in establishing data architecture to facilitate effective clinical evaluation.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, clinicians, and researchers to optimize project outcomes.
  • Ensure that research findings are accurately reported and shared with relevant stakeholders.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • BPS-accredited degree in Psychology.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in quantitative research methods.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Knowledge of mental health and its role in long-term conditions.
  • Ability to produce high-standard research reports.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with mental health conditions or disabilities.

Other Requirements

Essential:

  • Ability to travel independently to research sites and partner institutions.
