Requirements

  • Personal experience of autism and mental health challenges
  • Experience with UK autism or mental health services (inpatient or outpatient)
  • Comfortable sharing lived experience in a safe, helpful way
  • GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Willing to complete Peer Worker Training if not already completed
  • Compassionate, patient, and solution-oriented
  • Able to demonstrate empathy and encourage recovery
  • Interest in mental health care and service user involvement

Salary Details

£31,944 – £34,937 per year, depending on experience. This is a full-time role with full access to NHS benefits and structured training support.

About the Role

This role isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about being real, being human, and showing up with your story. As an Autism Peer Support Worker, you’ll walk alongside people who’ve been where you’ve been. Maybe they’re in crisis. Maybe they’re trying to find their feet again. Whatever their story, your lived experience helps them write a new chapter. You’ll help them navigate services, feel heard, and build hope. It’s a role that carries emotional weight, yes, but also real joy. You’ll also co-deliver training for NHS staff and carers, making sure more people understand what it means to support autistic individuals with compassion and clarity. And you’ll be backed every step of the way by clinical professionals who believe in what you bring.
