As a Battery Cell Engineer focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI), you will collaborate across teams to integrate improved hardware elements into a unified design. This role involves developing and qualifying advanced lithium-based rechargeable cell designs, crafting performance and test specifications, and pushing the boundaries of battery technology to enhance the overall product experience for Apple customers globally.

Key Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of direct experience in battery materials and cell design, with a specific emphasis on lithium-ion battery cells.
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge materials and production processes relevant to lithium rechargeable cells.
  • Knowledge of applicable test procedures, international standards, and certified agency requirements related to rechargeable lithium battery products.
  • Experience in collaborating with external vendors to develop and qualify battery designs for consumer applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant patent fields and the patent application process.

Description:

  • Develop performance specifications and detailed cell designs to meet application requirements.
  • Lead engineering qualification efforts for new lithium rechargeable cell designs from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and management to ensure timely development of new product designs.
  • Conduct investigations, prepare status reports, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Research literature and industry for advanced technologies applicable to next-generation cell design.
  • Pursue the development of intellectual property to protect technological advancements and secure a competitive position.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced degree in Material Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field is preferred.

Pay & Benefits:
Apple offers a comprehensive compensation package, with base pay ranging between $160,700 and $282,500, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to base pay, employees have the opportunity to participate in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs, with benefits including restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchase options. Apple provides comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounted products and services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses. Discretionary bonuses, commission payments, and relocation benefits may also apply to this role.
