Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grades A* to D or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 4 or NVQ Level 3 with diploma-level training in health and social care
- Experience at Senior Healthcare Support Worker (AfC Band 3) level
- Previous work in a multi-professional care environment
- Strong communication and emotional awareness to support patients compassionately
- Organisational skills and IT literacy for managing records and admin tasks
- Confidence with risk assessment, triage, and signposting
- Ability to manage your own caseload while knowing when to ask for support
Salary Details
This role offers a Band 4 salary range of £27,485 to £30,162 per year, depending on experience.
About the Role
As a Breast Cancer Support Worker, you’ll be embedded in a compassionate care team, working alongside Cancer Nurse Specialists to guide patients through one of life’s toughest journeys. You’ll be the steady hand and friendly voice that patients and their families can rely on.
From providing face-to-face guidance to organising wellbeing events and coordinating referrals, your work will be varied and meaningful. You’ll help people access the resources they need and encourage them to take control of their care, all while ensuring their emotional wellbeing doesn’t get overlooked. This is more than a job. Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional support tailored to each patient’s journey
- Complete holistic needs assessments and care plans with clarity and empathy
- Coordinate patient care as a single point of access for services
- Offer lifestyle advice and guidance on diet, wellbeing, and support pathways
- Refer patients to specialists or community resources as needed
- Document care activities for audit and continuous service improvement
- Help deliver group sessions, wellbeing courses, and educational workshops
- Collaborate closely with registered clinicians to improve patient experience
