Requirements
- Registered or accredited professional qualification in a mental health profession
- Qualifications that show the ability to complete postgraduate diploma-level study
- Two or more years’ experience working therapeutically with young people or families in a mental health setting
- Strong communication skills to engage children, young people, and families sensitively
- Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities
- Experience of working with multi-agency partners
- Motivation to balance academic and clinical demands positively
Salary Details
This training role offers a salary between £46,419 and £55,046 per year, aligned with NHS Agenda for Change.
About the Role
This role blends academic training with direct clinical practice. You’ll split your time between Islington CAMHS and structured postgraduate study in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents (IPT-A) at UCL/Anna Freud Centre. At least 2.5 days each week will be spent delivering care in service, applying what you learn in training to real clinical settings.
You’ll hold a training caseload, provide interventions grounded in evidence-based practice, and work closely with children, young people, and families. This isn’t just about gaining skills; it’s about building confidence to deliver meaningful interventions that improve outcomes for young people struggling with depression.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical interventions informed by IPT-A training that support recovery
- Manage a balanced training caseload while meeting academic requirements
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure joined-up care
- Use reflective practice to respond to challenging or emotive interactions constructively
- Contribute to safeguarding processes to ensure safety and wellbeing
- Engage with supervision and feedback to strengthen clinical practice
