About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at EPUT for an experienced, registered pharmacy technician to join the specialist pharmacy team. This role involves participating in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services within the Trust. You will provide technical support to the dispensary, including formulating and compounding pharmaceuticals, dispensing and checking prescriptions accurately, and ensuring efficient stock control. The post holder will implement prescribing changes, provide medicines management advice, and support the care-coordination team, GP practices, care homes, community pharmacies, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medicines management advice and support 
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Dispense in-patient, out-patient, and leave/discharge prescriptions 
  • Process prescriptions using the pharmacy IT system 
  • Maintain controlled drug register 
  • Assess suitability of pharmaceutical products for return to stock 
  • Assist with order checking, unpacking, and storage of stock 
  • Process ward stock orders 
  • Provide support to less experienced staff 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation 
  • Participate in weekend, bank holiday, early and late working rotas 
  • Undertake appropriate training at ward level 
  • Participate in the education and training of new staff members
