Requirements
- NMC Registration as a Nursing Associate with Level 5 Foundation Degree
- Experience delivering patient care and working as part of a healthcare team
- Understanding of The Code and NMC professional standards
- Confident in prioritising care and managing a caseload with minimal supervision
- Skilled in basic report writing, IT use, and safe medicine administration
- Strong communication skills to support young patients and their families
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting
- Understanding of integrated care and team-based practice

You’ll earn between 26,530 and 29,114 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, along with full NHS benefits and access to professional development.
About the Role
This role is all about being there when it matters most. As a Children’s Nursing Associate, you’ll provide direct care to children and young people in a busy emergency setting. You’ll be carrying out essential observations, offering reassurance to worried families, and keeping detailed records that ensure every child receives the care they need.
Working under the guidance of registered nurses and supported by a strong development framework, you’ll become a vital part of the emergency team. Whether you’re monitoring vitals or explaining care plans to parents, your calm, professional presence will make a real difference in moments that count.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on care to a group of children and young people during their hospital stay
- Monitor and report any changes in condition to the nurse in charge
- Communicate with families to provide updates and answer general questions
- Keep accurate patient records in line with NMC standards
- Follow treatment plans and administer medication where appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient dignity at all times
- Support safe use of equipment and monitor health and safety in clinical areas
- Collaborate with the wider healthcare team to ensure effective patient care
