Job Summary
An exciting opportunity is available for two full-time Band 6 HIV Specialist Nurses to join the established HIV nursing team at Castle Hill Hospital within the Infectious Diseases Unit. This role arises due to service expansion, offering the chance to work alongside a multidisciplinary team comprising Specialist Nurses, Medical Staff, and Pharmacists to care for individuals living with HIV.
The position involves using specialist knowledge to provide support and guidance for patients living with HIV while working across various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, community settings, outreach clinics, and home visits. The role requires adaptability, motivation, and a passion for improving the lives of people living with HIV.
The successful candidates will perform a range of clinical duties, serve as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare teams, and contribute to effective care delivery. They will receive guidance and support from the HIV multidisciplinary team while offering specialist advice, education, and continuous support to patients, their families, and caregivers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist care and support to patients living with HIV within the wider region.
- Act as the initial point of contact for patients and healthcare teams, ensuring coordinated care.
- Perform patient reviews and contribute to the delivery of effective, patient-focused services.
- Provide education and ongoing guidance to patients, relatives, and carers with the support of HIV consultants.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Maintain flexibility in working across various clinical and community settings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- Registered General Nurse
- Practice Assessor/Supervisor training
Desirable: - Advanced Communication course
- Qualifications in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, or HIV
Experience
Essential:
- Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
Desirable: - Post-registration experience in HIV, Infectious Diseases, or Sexual Health
- Leadership and management experience
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- Understanding evidence-based practice and NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Ability to work autonomously and manage workloads effectively
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Desirable: - Knowledge of HIV-related policy developments
- Skills in clinical procedures like phlebotomy and venepuncture
Other Requirements
- Full clean driving license and access to a car
- Subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
