An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Trust’s first Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Cancer Liaison Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), working across NWAFT to deliver specialist services for patients aged 13-24 with a cancer diagnosis.
The role will lead on the operational and day-to-day coordination of the TYA Cancer Service at Peterborough City Hospital, ensuring all patients receive high-quality, age-appropriate clinical care in collaboration with the Principal Treatment Centre (PTC; Cambridge), Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse, and the TYA MDT.
As a source of clinical expertise, this role aims to enhance both outcomes and experiences for TYA patients. It involves working alongside site-specific adult services and Paediatric Oncology/Haematology teams to provide advice on age-appropriate care and support in alignment with national guidance and regional operational policy.
Main Duties of the Job
- Promote and facilitate a continuous supportive cancer service across hospital and community settings.
- Support the cancer multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- Act as a resource for healthcare professionals involved in the management of cancer.
- Maintain responsibility for specialist information and support for a caseload of TYA patients across NWAFT.
- Participate in service delivery to ensure compliance with national cancer care recommendations and directives.
