Job Summary
Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a motivated and passionate Clinical Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team at Bronglais General Hospital, a busy district general hospital providing a range of medical and surgical specialties.
This role is ideal for newly qualified pharmacists or those seeking a career change, offering a structured opportunity to develop expertise across a variety of clinical specialties. The successful candidate will be supported in their professional development, including the opportunity to undertake the prescribing qualification.
The pharmacy department is actively involved in the digital transformation of medicines management systems, and the post holder will be encouraged to contribute to these advancements.
As part of the role, the pharmacist will be required to undertake Emergency Duty Commitment (on-call), work weekends, and Bank Holidays as part of a rota.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work as a rotational clinical pharmacist, collaborating with pharmacy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Develop skills and expertise in a wide range of clinical areas within a supportive and nurturing environment.
- Undertake the role of Responsible Pharmacist when working in outpatient areas.
- Participate in the structured HEIW Post-registration Foundation Training Programme or a distance learning clinical diploma to support professional growth.
- Engage in prescribing qualifications after completing foundational training.
- Contribute to the digital transformation of medicines management systems.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Pharmacy (4 years or equivalent).
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or a pre-registration pharmacy trainee at the time of application (must be fully registered at the start of employment).
- English language qualification:
- GCSE grade C or above OR
- IELTS score of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in all other components.
- Professional knowledge of medicines management systems and processes within the NHS.
Experience
Essential:
- Knowledge and experience of pharmacy services in a healthcare setting.
Desirable:
- Hospital pharmacy experience.
- Demonstrated achievement in multiple areas of medicines management.
- Experience in technical services, teaching, and supervision of pre-registration pharmacists, technicians, and assistants.
- Primary care experience.
Welsh Language
Desirable:
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1).

This role is subject to a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
