Job Summary
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Dietitian to join the Teesside CAMHS Community Eating Disorders Service. The role involves providing specialist, evidence-based dietetic interventions to young people with eating disorders and their families in a community setting. Additionally, the post holder will support broader CAMHS teams, dealing with complex cases such as faltering growth, selective eating, and weight management.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, dynamic, and skilled Registered Dietitian with substantial clinical experience in complex dietetic delivery. This role also involves service development, research, audits, training, and pathway development while working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of highly complex cases in a specialist dietetics field, working autonomously and within a team.
- Provide dietetic support and intervention to young people with eating disorders and other complex needs.
- Offer education and training to clinical teams, external stakeholders, and students.
- Act as a practice educator in accordance with local university requirements.
- Lead service development, audits, and research to enhance evidence-based practices.
- Ensure that available research is translated and applied to improve service delivery.
- Provide expert advice and leadership within the Trust for specialist dietetics.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Pre-registration qualification in Dietetics, recognised by the HCPC.
- HCPC registration as a Dietitian.
- Evidence of post-registration learning at Master’s level or equivalent experience (e.g., Level 7 courses, research, service development, project management).
- Significant clinical experience in complex dietetics within a specialist area.
- Experience working with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or autism.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice in the specialist area.
- International recruits must have IELTS Level 7 (SLT = 8).
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT).
- Competency in clinical risk assessment and application.
- Experience in quality improvement, service development, and project management.
- Experience in clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance.
- Participation in research, critical appraisal, service evaluation, or large-scale studies.
- Advanced clinical supervision skills for staff and students.
- Strong background in legislation application (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding, CPA, Clinical Governance).

Essential
- Highly specialist clinical knowledge in dietetics.
- Strong understanding of national strategies, guidance, and standards in the specialist area.
- Competency in business planning processes and research methodology.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
Desirable
- Experience in business planning and financial management.
