Requirements
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with UK registration
- Experience in adult mental health including complex presentations
- Experience with older adults living with frailty or dementia
- Clinical confidence in tasks like depot administration ECG and venepuncture
- Calm communication skills that help families feel included
- Awareness of national guidance for older adult mental health
- Ability to manage a caseload while staying organised under pressure
- Basic IT skills for clinical recording
Salary Details
This Band 6 role offers 38682 to 46580 per year plus HCAS depending on experience and hours worked.
About the Role
This role sits in the Older Adult Mental Health Team in Waltham Forest where you’ll support people living with frailty functional mental illness or dementia. You’ll look after a mixed caseload and coordinate care that helps each person stay steady. You’ll assess needs write plans and review progress with an eye on recovery and social inclusion. Some days you’ll guide families through tough moments. Other days you’ll step in with clinical skill when symptoms shift. Your work will shape how people feel about their days and that’s no small thing. You’ll also take part in the duty rota where timely decisions can make all the difference. Key Responsibilities
- Assess mental health needs to shape plans that support recovery and independence
- Coordinate care safely so older adults feel supported rather than overwhelmed
- Deliver clinical interventions like depot medication ECG and blood sampling to guide treatment decisions
- Work with families to ease worry and offer clear updates that build trust
- Monitor risk so concerns are spotted early and escalated when needed
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure joined up care for every person
- Support carers by completing assessments that recognise their role and burden
- Contribute to service development to push for better and fairer mental health support
