Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy with HCPC registration
- Enthusiasm for working with people with learning disabilities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in multi-disciplinary settings
- Ability to reflect on practice and embrace continuous learning
- Flexibility to travel across urban and rural areas in Gloucestershire
- Post-registration community experience is desirable but not essential

This role is a Band 5 position under Agenda for Change with a salary of £31,049 to £37,796 per annum.
About the Role
This Community Occupational Therapist role puts you right at the heart of local support for people with complex needs and learning disabilities. You’ll work closely with a skilled multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist assessments and interventions designed to help people live fuller, more independent lives.
It’s a role that blends autonomy with collaboration. From delivering tailored care plans to mentoring families and carers, you’ll see first-hand how your work restores confidence, promotes social inclusion, and builds pathways to recovery. For newly qualified OTs, there’s an excellent preceptorship programme designed to help you grow quickly in a supportive and structured way.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions that promote independence and dignity
- Coordinate care for a small caseload, ensuring consistency and continuity for service users
- Collaborate with colleagues across nursing, psychology, physiotherapy, and speech therapy to provide joined-up care
- Support families, carers, and other professionals with training and advice so they can better meet occupational needs
- Contribute to service development and maintain high standards of clinical practice through reflection and supervision
