About the Role:

TEWV is on the lookout for a female support worker to join their Physical Health and Clozapine team at the Goodall Centre in Bishop Auckland. This role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of delivering care to both new and existing patients who require Physical Health Monitoring within the South Dales Treatment and Intervention team. The successful candidate won’t just be part of the Physical Health Team but will also integrate with the wider community teams based at the Goodall Centre.

The primary focus of this position is to conduct general physical observations, including blood pressure and pulse checks, as well as performing ECGs and venepuncture. While experience in these areas is crucial, TEWV is willing to provide training for the right candidate. The Physical Health clinic operates under the guidance of the leadership team, ensuring top-notch care for all patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and run the Physical Health Clinic alongside colleagues
  • Book and follow up on patient appointments
  • Maintain accurate patient records and spreadsheets for robust medication monitoring
  • Arrange home visits when necessary, coordinating with patients, carers, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in the clozapine clinic, which runs every Tuesday
  • Operate and maintain the Pochi Machine (specialist training provided)
  • Work closely with pharmacy staff to ensure safe and appropriate care for patients on clozapine
  • Provide psychological wellbeing interventions under the supervision of qualified staff
  • Attend daily huddles and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Liaise with prescribers and team colleagues to ensure safe practice and care

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent
  • Care Certificate
  • Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2
  • Ability to successfully complete the Trust’s full HCA Framework within a 6-month probationary period
  • Previous experience working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities
  • Ability to take general observations (pulse, BP, temperature, weight, and height)
