Job Summary
North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is seeking a Vocational Support Worker to join its occupational therapy and vocational team within the North London Forensic Service (NLFS). The role involves supporting individuals with mental illness and/or learning disabilities in accessing employment and education, working across medium and low secure in-patient and forensic outreach services.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Support individuals in accessing employment and educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with third-sector organisations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Work alongside the employment, training, and education team to implement vocational pathways between inpatient and community services.
- Assist service users in accessing work placement schemes to develop skills and confidence for community integration and rehabilitation.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in healthcare or employability-related courses.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illness.
Desirable:
- Experience in supporting people into employment.
Skills & Abilities
Essential:
- Strong communication and IT skills.
- Effective caseload and time management.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and problem-solve.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours or difficult situations.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check
- This role requires a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
