Job Summary

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Contract Monitoring Developer to join the Contract Monitoring team. The successful candidate will support the management of the Contract Monitoring System (CMS), ensuring accurate reporting of the Trust’s contractual position for both internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with extensive experience working with NHS data, tariffs, and contract monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & System Maintenance
  • Maintain the Trust’s Contract Monitoring System (CMS).
  • Ensure accuracy of activity groupings, tariffs, and commissioner assignment rules.
  • Standardize and transform NHS data into meaningful reports.
  • Contract Monitoring & Income Strategy
  • Align contract monitoring processes with the Trust’s income plan.
  • Develop and maintain master look-up files for categorizing contracting information.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the Trust’s contracting strategy.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Work with large and complex datasets to generate insights.
  • Ensure accurate financial and activity reporting for contracts worth approximately £200 million per month.
  • Support internal and external audiences in understanding Trust activity and NHS clinical information.
  • Collaboration & Advisory Role
  • Advise colleagues on HRGs, national tariffs, PSS allocation rules, and NHS data structures.
  • Work closely with contract monitoring software suppliers to enhance system capabilities.
  • Contribute to the broader information management agenda within the Trust.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Degree in informatics-related discipline or equivalent experience in information management.
  • High level of numeracy and strong analytical skills.
  • In-depth understanding of NHS data, including national tariffs, HRGs, SUS, and contract monitoring.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working with contract monitoring systems and NHS data structures.
  • Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.
  • Experience in financial and activity data management, reporting, and presentation.
  • Experience in managing staff and supporting their development.

Essential Skills

  • Strong SQL knowledge, including database design, management, and interrogation.
  • Proficiency in Sequel Server Integration Service (SSIS) from Server Data Tools (SDT).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including macros.
  • Experience using Power BI and QlikView for reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

Desirable Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of report development software and techniques.
  • Experience in writing analytical reports.

Pre-Employment Requirements
