Job Overview

  • Role: Customer Service Specialist
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (between 8 AM and 7 PM) – No weekend work
  • Work Location: Onsite only (not work from home)
  • Start Date: Ongoing weekly start dates
  • Training: 11 days (9 AM – 6 PM) + 10 days nesting period (Full attendance required, no holidays allowed within the first 4 weeks)

Job Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound calls from students and their family members regarding loan applications, eligibility, payments, and funding.
  • Provide accurate information and guidance to assist students in their financial journey.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume contact centre environment.
  • Utilize multiple complex systems to retrieve and update information efficiently.
  • Maintain quality and average handling time targets while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Handle challenging calls with patience and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with different people.
  • Ability to learn and engage in virtual training sessions.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills to navigate between different systems quickly and accurately.
  • Resilience and adaptability to handle customer queries, including difficult situations.
  • Flexibility, good timekeeping, and reliability to meet business needs.
  • Ability to work in a confidential and professional manner.
  • A secure, private working area with a stable internet connection (for remote support during training and nesting).

Pre-Employment Checks

  • ID Requirement: Passport or Birth Certificate, National Insurance Number, and proof of address (dated within the last 3 months).
  • Background Checks:
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check – employer covers the cost.
  • Credit check – must not have outstanding CCJs or bankruptcy (those on a repayment plan are considered).
  • Right to Work in the UK is required.
