Requirements

• Degree level education in a numerate subject plus significant post-degree experience
• In-depth knowledge of data warehouse technologies and architectures
• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency with MS SQL Server tools
• Experience with MS Azure technologies and cloud infrastructure
• Proven track record developing and maintaining data warehouse solutions
• Experience setting up large-scale data processing systems on cloud platforms
• NHS/Health Information Management experience
• Team management skills with ability to mentor and develop staff
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development support
• Design and implement scalable data pipelines and workflows using Azure Data Factory and other ETL tools
• Build and manage data lakes, warehouses and databases on Azure platforms including Synapse Analytics
• Develop future data processing solutions in Microsoft Fabric
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions
• Provide technical support for existing database applications
• Ensure compliance with NHS Information Standard Notices and data standards
• Develop algorithms to transform data into usable models while ensuring data quality
• Manage the current data warehousing infrastructure supporting Trust reporting needs
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential benefit
• Document all technical processes thoroughly for knowledge sharing
