Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with NHS or biomedical data in a data science or informatics role
  • Solid programming in SQL and Python to build and support data pipelines
  • Strong understanding of data transformation, cleaning, and augmentation
  • Familiarity with ontologies like OMOP and SNOMED for structured healthcare data
  • Clear, confident communicator able to present specialist material to a range of audiences
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in health informatics, data science, or related fields
  • Collaborative mindset for working with researchers, clinicians, and developers
  • A passion for data ethics and governance, working under strict compliance with GDPR

Salary Details

You’ll earn between £61,927 and £68,676, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

They’re offering more than just a data role. This is about helping shape the future of how NHS data can drive cancer research and improve outcomes at scale. You’ll support the PharosAI platform through the Barts Health Data Platform, designing robust data solutions that bring research and care closer together. You’ll work side-by-side with the Data Warehouse Manager and wider project teams to build secure, research-grade datasets pulled from Electronic Health Records. The focus isn’t just on data engineering but on enabling responsible, high-impact data access that matters.

This role places you at the intersection of data transformation, health informatics, and ethical innovation. You’ll play a key role in ensuring datasets meet governance standards, are interoperable, and empower scientists, researchers, and clinicians to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain core data products for secure, research-ready access
  • Work closely with EHR systems to transform raw data into structured, usable formats
  • Implement standardised ontologies like SNOMED for data harmonisation
  • Support development of a high-performing, compliant platform for clinical research
  • Collaborate with governance teams to ensure legal and ethical data use
  • Present findings and data models clearly to clinical, academic, and tech stakeholders
