Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience administering production PostgreSQL databases
• Skilled in SQL and data modelling with strong query optimization abilities
• Hands-on experience creating functions, triggers, and performance tuning
• Confident supporting live systems and resolving complex issues fast
• Proficient with Git, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Bonus: experience managing cloud databases (AWS or GCP)
• Advantageous: background in Oracle, NoSQL, or high-level programming
• Analytical mindset and proactive approach to performance improvement

About the Role

As a Database Administrator (PostgreSQL/Oracle), you’ll be the guardian of Deel’s data infrastructure. You’ll design, optimize, and secure databases that power payroll, compliance, and HR operations across continents.

Your role keeps global teams running smoothly. You’ll work closely with developers to implement best practices, optimize performance, and troubleshoot production systems so that businesses and workers stay connected without disruption. Every query you tune and every database you stabilize directly contributes to Deel’s mission of making international hiring seamless and trusted.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and support developers on database design and performance best practices to ensure scalable applications
• Review and approve database-related code to maintain reliability and security
• Monitor database health and metrics to prevent performance issues before they arise
• Respond quickly to live alerts such as errors, locks, or deadlocks to ensure high availability
• Handle backups, restores, upgrades, and migrations to safeguard data integrity
• Improve query performance by identifying bottlenecks and optimizing parameters
• Maintain strong data security and integrity, ensuring compliance across global regions
• Collaborate across teams to design database systems that scale with Deel’s rapid growth
