Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Early Years Teacher and SenCo to join the Sunshine Day Nursery team at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This role offers year-round childcare to NHS and hospital staff, caring for up to 144 children in dedicated baby, toddler, and pre-school units. With extended opening hours from 6:30am to 7pm, the team is committed to providing a fun, social, and stimulating environment for children to develop and thrive.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Contribute to the development of high-quality early years provision by supporting colleagues in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to improve outcomes for children.
  • Ensure the quality of planning and outcomes for children meets high standards through role modelling and staff support.
  • Develop and lead practice in key areas identified by the Early Years Teacher and the Leadership Team.
  • Supervise and mentor Senior Nursery Practitioners, Nursery Practitioners, Childcare Assistants, Flexible Workers, and Students to ensure compliance with EYFS standards.
  • Provide high-quality childcare and education for children attending the Day Nursery or Holiday Club, promoting family-type care that values each child as an individual.
  • Promote a safe, caring environment to support children in reaching their full potential.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare/Education or equivalent.
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy skills.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • General IT skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Safeguarding Certificate.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • SENDCo qualification.

Experience

  • Substantial experience in a Day Care/childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS and curriculum planning.
  • Good awareness of child development, health, and hygiene.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children.
  • Ability to deliver information to groups.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in leading a team.
