Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- Strong foundation in SQL Server, including writing advanced queries and scripts
- Experience in healthcare informatics or data analysis within NHS frameworks
- Skilled in data warehousing, ETL workflows, and digital transformation
- Confident communicator, able to break down complex ideas clearly
- Comfortable managing tight project timelines and shifting priorities
- Ideally, familiarity with Python or PySpark, and exposure to Apache Spark
- Experience with NHS systems such as Cerner Millennium is a plus
- Project management experience or formal training is beneficial
Salary Details
This role offers a competitive Agenda for Change Band 8a salary ranging from £61,927 to £68,676 per annum inclusive.

This isn’t just another engineering role. You’ll be embedded in the Business Intelligence Team, shaping how clinical and operational data comes together to improve decision-making and care delivery. Your mission? Build fast, scalable information systems that help clinicians and managers make smarter choices, faster. From SQL server development to Apache Spark pipelines, this role is hands-on and high-impact.
You’ll work closely with senior clinical leaders, software vendors, and delivery teams to translate business challenges into elegant digital solutions. Every script you write and every system you refine will echo across the trust — enhancing how care is delivered and measured.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and build digital systems that support clinical transformation
- Engage with clinical stakeholders to tailor reporting tools to real-world needs
- Lead end-to-end development of data pipelines and warehouse optimisation
- Ensure reporting systems are robust, reliable, and efficient
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions that scale
- Keep projects on track, managing priorities and guiding junior team members
- Serve as technical lead for NHS data standards, mandatory reporting, and system integrations
