Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a highly skilled Developer to join its Health Informatics team. This role is crucial in enabling, promoting, and supporting data-driven healthcare innovations to enhance patient care.
The successful candidate will develop web applications using object-oriented programming and low-code platforms to support clinical and operational decision-making. The role involves working closely with internal stakeholders to build interactive, user-friendly applications and integrate them with enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Developer, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and optimizing digital solutions. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining web applications that support healthcare services.
- Using modern markup languages (HTML, JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS) to create intuitive, responsive applications.
- Optimizing application performance to ensure fast, efficient operations.
- Designing cross-platform features to enhance usability across various devices.
- Integrating applications with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Dataverse.
- Leveraging REST APIs for seamless system integration.
- Utilizing Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Dataverse, and Power Automate) for low-code application development.
- Ensuring high-quality graphic standards and data consistency across applications.
- Providing troubleshooting and debugging support to database developers.
- Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies to implement best practices in web development.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A degree in computer science or a related field OR equivalent software development experience.
- Experience in full software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment.
- Strong proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, TypeScript/JavaScript, and CSS.
- Knowledge of relational database design and implementation, particularly with SQL Server, Oracle, or Dataverse.
- Experience integrating applications using REST APIs.
- Understanding of Information Governance, GDPR, and data security policies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach to debugging and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
Desirable Skills and Experience
While not essential, experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Developing data warehouse environments for healthcare IT systems.
- Creating web applications for data capture using Microsoft Power Platform.
- Building reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Power BI.
- Working in an NHS, healthcare, or public sector IT environment.
- Understanding of mental health services and their information needs.
- System testing and quality assurance practices.
- Experience with medical information systems, such as patient administration and clinical management systems.
