Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English, or equivalent NVQ/BTEC
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Dietetic Assistant in healthcare
  • Hands-on understanding of nutritional tools like MUST
  • Knowledge of food allergies and oral nutritional products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid IT skills and ability to work independently when required
  • Team experience with a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Interest in career growth within healthcare nutrition and therapy services

Salary Details

The salary range for this Band 4 position is £31,081 to £33,665 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Role

This is more than an assistant role—it’s about standing at the heart of nutritional care. As a Dietetic Therapy Assistant Practitioner, you’ll be embedded in the Cardiothoracic and Transplant Therapy team. From assessing patients’ nutritional needs to arranging community support after discharge, your work will touch every step of a patient’s journey.

You’ll work closely with dietitians and other clinicians to provide tailored care, while also handling essential inventory and stock control duties. Your input keeps patients nourished and care plans on track—and that ripple effect is huge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support stable inpatients with nutritional plans, including food allergy care
  • Perform dietary screenings and update patient assessments
  • Manage dietetic feed stock, supplier orders, and inventory
  • Coordinate discharges, ensuring community and GP follow-up
  • Contribute to health promotion education and team-wide audits
  • Liaise with catering departments and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
