Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years (or equivalent)
- Experience in a nursery setting preferred, but not essential
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate (within the last 3 years)
- DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Good communication skills and a love for working with children
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate is a bonus

About the Role
This full-time role puts you at the heart of a busy, vibrant nursery where no two days look the same. You’ll work hands-on with babies and children up to 5 years old, making sure they’re safe, happy, and learning through play. Think messy art tables, curious toddlers, storytime snuggles, and that moment when a child finally cracks a skill they’ve been working on. That’s where your role shines.
You’ll plan age-appropriate activities, track each child’s development, and act as the go-to key person for a small group. Got ideas for themed weeks or better snack plans? They want to hear them. You’ll also keep records, support hygiene routines, and partner closely with parents and carers to keep things smooth and supportive.
Key Responsibilities
- Care for children aged 0–5 years, including feeding, nappy changing, and toileting
- Support each child’s learning journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that spark imagination
- Ensure child welfare and safeguarding at all times
- Serve as a key person for a set group of children and families
- Track, assess, and celebrate learning milestones
- Build trusted relationships with parents and carers
- Maintain cleanliness and health standards in every area
- Join team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance the nursery
- Support partnerships with local agencies when needed
- Follow all nursery policies with a sense of care and professionalism
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check is required before starting work to ensure the safety of the children and team.
