About the Job:

This is a unique opportunity with Boeing for an Entry-Level or Associate Flight Deck Design Engineer in Renton, WA. Join a team of highly skilled engineers dedicated to shaping the next generation Flight Deck. This role involves working on the design concept, development, test, certification, delivery, production, and in-service fleet support of Flight Decks for Boeing Commercial aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document component and detail design efforts, complex electronic and electrical system requirements using analytical and technical skills.
  • Resolve airplane level requirements into system and component requirements with time and cost-efficient validation methods.
  • Support production efforts, identify and implement design improvements, and resolve build problems at Boeing and supplier manufacturing facilities.
  • Coordinate technical efforts within and outside Boeing, including manufacturing, Crew-ops, airplane safety, supply chain management, BCA Systems Software, suppliers, airline customers, regulatory agencies, and other interfacing teams.
  • Participate in system, component, and detail certification efforts, including creating required certification artifacts.
  • Contribute to the authoring and management of Design Practices and Design Guides.
  • Assist in the development of the Interface Control Documents (ICD) and model the system logical data in the SLATE tool.
  • Manage electrical aspects such as power loads, requirements on various electrical buses, circuit protection, switch contact ratings, functional schematics, and wire diagrams.
  • Identify problems, perform root cause corrective analysis, and implement corrective actions utilizing the Boeing Problem Solving Methodology (BPSM).
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Support the resolution of issues concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in equipment management.
  • Working knowledge and experience in aviation-related system safety analysis methods.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuit design.

Education & Experience:

  • Entry-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. ABET accreditation is preferred.
  • Associate: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. ABET accreditation is preferred.
