Job Description

EdEx is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Unqualified Pastoral Care Assistant to join a diverse and dynamic primary school in the Borough of Waltham Forest. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to kickstart a career in education, psychological research, therapy, mental health, and more. Starting in September, this full-time, long-term role involves providing essential support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support for Pupils: Provide targeted support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them navigate their educational journey and achieve their full potential.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of hardworking, determined, and inclusive staff, contributing to a positive and collaborative school environment.
  • Individual Needs Facilitation: Facilitate the individual needs and abilities of students, ensuring that each child receives the personalized support they require.
  • Group Learning Support: Assist in supporting small groups of students with their learning and development, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Skills and Qualifications

EdEx is looking for candidates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and who possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEND and SEMH needs is highly desirable. This experience can come from a variety of settings, including schools, after-school programs, or volunteer work.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents, and maintain clear professional boundaries.
  • Educational Background: A degree-level qualification is required. While the role is unqualified, having a strong educational background is important to provide the best support to the students.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed is crucial. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, empathetic, and dedicated to making a positive impact.

Duration and Location

  • Location: The role is based in Waltham Forest, London.
  • Work Schedule: This is a full-time, long-term position. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, providing a consistent routine for both the assistant and the students.

Compensation

  • Salary: The position offers a competitive daily rate of £105 – £110, reflecting the importance of the role and the value placed on providing high-quality support to students.
