Position: Research Associate in Astrophysics

Duration: Up to 2 years

Supported by: Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and the UK Research Innovation (UKRI)

Imperial College London’s Astrophysics group, known for hosting the ICIC, a renowned astrostatistics center, is offering a Research Associate position in Astrophysics. This role involves contributing to original research within the Astrophysics group, publishing in refereed journals, and supporting research activities. You’ll have the freedom to develop your research program, collaborate across Physics and Mathematics, and access Imperial’s significant HPC resources.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Astronomy, Physics, or Mathematics, or possess equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
  • Research experience in cosmology, machine learning, and reionization.
  • Experience presenting at internationally recognized conferences and workshops.
  • Programming, modifying, and testing numerical software.
  • Demonstrated high-quality research independently and collaboratively, evidenced by a portfolio of publications.

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Research experience in numerical simulation.
  • Research experience in the epoch of reionization/21 cm cosmology.
  • Research experience in simulation-based inference.

Additional Information:

  • Fixed-term position for up to two years (funding available until March 31, 2026).
  • Candidates not yet awarded a PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant.
