Requirements
- Proven experience in real-time embedded software validation and verification
- Hands-on skill designing and implementing automated test cases
- Strong programming ability in Python, with dependency management
- Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with C/C++ systems and protocols like PUS, CCSDS, CAN, and SpaceWire
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and ECSS standards (ECSS-E-ST-40C)
- Background in Space Industry software validation a strong advantage
- Self-driven mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving

About the Role
As a Flight Software Validation & Verification Engineer, you’ll ensure the reliability of the software that powers Astroscale’s orbital missions, including ELSA-M, a service designed to capture and retire multiple satellites. You’ll translate mission requirements into actionable tests, build verification tools, and work closely with subsystem teams to ensure seamless integration.
You’ll design, script, and execute validation cases that guarantee flight software performance under real conditions. From developing simulators to shaping test environments, every line you write contributes directly to mission success and safer skies.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the validation and verification of flight software to meet mission standards
- Review and refine technical specifications ensuring clarity and consistency
- Design and automate test cases to verify complex software interactions
- Develop and maintain test environments and simulators for flight software
- Identify and recommend equipment and tools for validation activities
- Collaborate with subsystem teams to align software needs and performance goals
- Support knowledge sharing between global Astroscale teams to improve efficiency
- Provide technical insight during reviews to strengthen system integration
