Requirements
- A faith or belief community background
- Degree in theology, pastoral studies or similar
- Understanding of spiritual care across different cultures and beliefs
- Empathetic communication and active listening
- Flexibility to work across four hospitals and two hospices
- Willingness to be part of a 24-hour on-call rotation
- Desire to work as part of a compassionate, values-led team
- Bonus: Counselling qualification or prior healthcare chaplaincy experience

About the Role
This chaplaincy role is more than prayers and pastoral visits. It’s about being present in the toughest moments and celebrating quiet victories. The postholder will offer spiritual care to patients, staff, and families, no matter their beliefs. Whether you’re offering last rites, leading a reflection session, or just sitting in silence with someone in grief, your presence carries weight. You’ll work closely with a team that supports each other through laughter and loss, across six sites, including two hospices. It’s human, raw, meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day spiritual and religious care across the Trust
- Deliver ceremonies and rites in line with patient and family beliefs
- Support the recently bereaved with compassion and care
- Collaborate with other chaplains and attend team meetings
- Maintain clear, confidential records using their chaplaincy system
- Respond to urgent needs through the 24-hour on-call rota
- Offer emotional support to staff during challenging cases
- Commit to personal growth and ongoing professional training
