And if you own one, here’s what you need to know:

  • Your Google Business Profile website will be turned off in March.
  • Visitors trying to access your website will be automatically redirected to your Business Profile until June 10.
  • After June 10, they will encounter a “page not found” error.

Why it matters:
If you want to keep your online presence, you need to build a new website using other tools. You must update your Business Profile with the new site address before the deadline for a smooth transition.

Alternative tools suggested by Google:

  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • GoDaddy
  • Google Sites
  • Shopify
  • WordPress

Ad campaign issues:
If your Ads campaign links to a website from Google Business Profile, either change the link by March 1 or pause your campaigns.

Third-party domains:
If you’ve set up a custom domain to direct traffic to your Google Business Profile website, it will redirect to your Business Profile until June 10. Manage this transition by logging into your hosting company account and selecting the “Redirect” option before the specified date.

What Google says:
A Google spokesperson mentioned, “Websites made with Google Business Profiles are basic websites powered by the information on your Business Profile. Domains that end with business.site and negocio.site will be removed from the website field on your Business Profile in March. We recommend that you update your Google Business Profile to point to a new website.”
