Requirements
- A BSc degree in a cyber security or related field
- Professional qualifications in Cyber Security (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CEH)
- Strong background in senior IT or cyber security roles within the NHS or public sector
- Proven experience managing technical support and cyber resilience projects
- Confident working across organisational boundaries to influence decision-making
- Strong grasp of ICT systems, threat management, and risk mitigation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Desirable: Welsh Level 3 or above in Speaking and Listening

- Starting from £54,550 up to £61,412 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
As the Head of Cyber Security Operations, your work helps protect lives and systems. You’ll take the lead in safeguarding the Health Board’s digital infrastructure, ensuring it’s not just functional but future-proof. This isn’t about firefighting. It’s about setting vision, driving standards, and aligning local practice with national expectations.
You’ll join the digital services team at a crucial moment of transformation, working hand in hand with board leaders, external partners, and internal teams. If you know how to balance proactive leadership with real-world cyber defence, this is your opportunity to do work that truly matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cyber security operations across all digital platforms and services
- Identify vulnerabilities and design protective systems aligned with NHS and national guidance
- Manage incident responses and recovery strategies
- Champion awareness, best practice, and staff training in cyber security
- Ensure governance frameworks are followed and continuously improved
- Support audits, policy development, and service compliance
- Collaborate with partner organisations and national cyber teams
- Advise on procurement, investment, and risk from a cyber lens
