Requirements
- A healthcare qualification such as BTEC or NVQ.
- A phlebotomy qualification and confidence in drawing blood.
- Experience in primary care and performing ECGs, foot checks, BMI, and blood pressure monitoring.
- Strong IT and interpersonal skills with a commitment to patient-centred care.
- (Desirable) Experience assisting with minor operations or spirometry testing.
- (Desirable) Additional training in long-term conditions.
Salary Details
This Band 3 post follows the Agenda for Change pay scheme, with a salary between £22,816 and £24,336 per year, depending on experience.
About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant at ELFT, you’ll work closely with nurses and advanced clinical practitioners to provide hands-on patient care that makes a real difference. Your work will cover everything from phlebotomy and ECGs to diabetic care planning and health education. You’ll also help coordinate care plans, carry out routine diagnostic checks, and support national health programmes like NHS Health Checks and vaccination campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical checks such as blood pressure, ECGs, and phlebotomy to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Coordinate diabetic care plans and ensure patients receive timely reviews that improve their long-term health.
- Promote health education during patient interactions to encourage lifestyle awareness.
- Administer vaccinations and participate in national health initiatives to improve population health outcomes.
- Assist in health promotion projects and community campaigns like No Smoking Day.
Each task helps patients stay informed, supported, and engaged in their own care journey.
