Requirements

  • Healthcare Qualification – NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy Certified – Must hold a recognised phlebotomy qualification
  • Clinical Experience – Recent work in primary care is preferred
  • Essential Skills – Confident in BP checks, ECGs, BMI assessments, and foot checks
  • Communication Savvy – Comfortable using IT systems and sharing health education
  • Health Promotion Focused – Willing to participate in programmes like NHS Health Checks
  • Team Player – Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive care

Salary Details

The role is Band 3 on the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale, ranging from 22,816 to 24,336 per year, with standard NHS benefits included.

About the Role

This is your chance to step into a hands-on clinical role where every day brings something different. As a Health Care Assistant, you’ll work under the guidance of Practice Nurses and Advanced Clinical Practitioners, supporting a wide range of patient care tasks. From drawing blood to recording ECGs, from managing diabetic care plans to delivering NHS Health Checks, you’ll play a key part in preventative and routine care. It’s a role that’s equal parts skill and heart, ideal for someone who thrives on impactful work and collaboration. You’ll also support wider health promotion campaigns and help patients better understand their own care journeys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry Out Phlebotomy and Observations – Provide timely and accurate diagnostic support
  • Support Diabetes Care Plans – Coordinate results and ensure patients receive updates
  • Undertake ECGs and Monitoring – Assist in clinical decision-making with vital signs data
  • Promote Preventative Care – Offer health education and support wider campaigns
  • Deliver NHS Health Checks – Contribute to early detection and healthier lifestyles
  • Provide Vaccinations – Administer jabs if qualified, especially during seasonal peaks
  • Keep Records Organised – Maintain accurate documentation for continuity of care
