About the Role
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit dedicated Health Care Support Workers to join the Theatres team at Lincoln County Hospital. With 10 operating rooms covering a variety of clinical specialties—such as Breast, Gynae, Ophthalmics, ENT, Maxillo-Facial, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics, Urology, General Surgery, Emergencies, and Trauma—the successful candidates will be vital members of the multi-disciplinary team. This role offers opportunities to work with both adult and pediatric patients, delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities include working alongside the theatre team to assist in patient care, being responsible for equipment, mentoring new staff, and participating in monthly audit meetings. Healthcare support workers will ensure smooth operations within the theatre while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Provide care and support to patients in a variety of theatre specialties
  • Assist the theatre team in ensuring smooth operation of surgical lists
  • Take responsibility for patient care within own remit
  • Maintain and care for theatre equipment
  • Mentor new healthcare support workers and assist with staff induction
  • Participate in monthly audit meetings to ensure high-quality patient care

Requirements

  • Literacy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above (e.g., GCSE grade E or above)
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Commitment to achieving the Care Certificate upon joining
  • Motivated to develop skills and knowledge, with a focus on self-development

Desirable Skills and Experience
