About the Role
As a Health Care Support Worker on Claerwen Ward, you’ll play a vital role in delivering hands-on nursing care to patients under the guidance of registered nurses. It’s about being there in the moments that matter—helping someone eat their first meal after treatment, offering comfort when anxiety sets in, and supporting recovery through compassion and teamwork.
You’ll help maintain a clean and safe ward environment, assist with patient nutrition and hydration, and communicate sensitively with patients and their families. It’s practical, person-centred work that leaves a real impact on people’s lives.
If you enjoy helping others and want a role where every day brings something meaningful, this is where you’ll thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nurses in delivering high-quality patient care to ensure comfort and dignity at all times
- Support nutrition and hydration plans by helping patients eat and drink safely and comfortably
- Maintain ward cleanliness and organisation to promote safety and infection control
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the healthcare team for seamless care delivery
- Participate in care planning and record keeping to maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
- Help with patient movement and transfers safely using appropriate manual handling techniques
- Attend and contribute to ward meetings to support teamwork and continuous improvement
Every task you take on supports better care, stronger teams, and healthier patients.
